Chiorri is in the gentle and sunny area of Perugia hills, an enchanting and suggestive viewpoint along the food and wine itinerary called “Strada dei vini del Cantico”. For five generations, the family management has preserved the traditions and authenticity of the past and a high quality standard. The harvest is made by hand in small baskets and it reminisces the Umbrian country tastes and flavours. You just have to open the bottle and start enjoying it.
Current line-up
Established at the end of the 19thcentury amid the farms of Sant’Enea in the province of Perugia, our cellar represents the emblem of wine tradition. From its foundation to today, 5 generations have followed, preserving an active union between ancient wine making systems and modern technology. Times have changed but our objective has remained the same: enjoying a glass of wine with unique and genuine flavour.
Our winery uses steel barrels, concrete tanks, a wide barrique cellar and large wooden barrels with ancient charm and modern manufacture. If you visit our cellar you will discover a unique place where you can admire the most inspiring Umbrian landscape. The cellar is always open to enjoy an excellent glass of wine and the enchantment of our land.
Thanks to the excellent sun exposure of our vineyards and to the quality of the soil on which they are planted, Chiorri wines have been awarded the labels Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) of Perugia hills and Protected Geographical Indication (IGP) of Umbria. The vines grown for white wines are native and not native varieties such as Grechetto, Malvasia and Pinot Grigio, while for red wines they are Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and obviously Sagrantino.
The company has received a heritage of land and vineyards from its ancestors and founders and is committed to caring for it and preserving it in order to pass it down to future generations. We are grateful for what we have inherited and we seek to maintain it for our descendants.
The company vigorously and successfully promotes sustainable viticulture practices and low environmental impact wine production. Sponsored by the Ministry of the Environment, one of our most prestigious projects involved the carbon footprint of our Saliato wine, defined as the total amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere as a result of our activities. These projects testify to our commitment, renewed daily with enthusiasm.
