Current line-up

Deep Roots is a family owned and operated winery perched on the clay cliffs above Okanagan Lake on the Naramata Bench.

Our family has been farming the land around our winery for 100 years, spanning four generations. After many years of selling grapes to other wineries, we took the leap into winemaking, producing our first vintage in 2012, which was followed by opening our tasting room doors in 2014. Our philosophy has always been to celebrate the exceptional fruit that grows in our vineyards ~ our wines reflect that pride in our quality viticulture.

We have two vineyards at two sites on the Naramata Bench: our Hardman Vineyard, which is our home property on Aikins Loop and Rayner’s Vineyard, located north of Naramata village.

Our Hardman Vineyard is home to nine acres where we grow Muscat, Gamay, Merlot, and Malbec. The Rayner property has been farmed by our family for almost forty years and is home to eleven acres of vines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Malbec, and Syrah.

Both of these farms were planted with fruit orchards for much of the previous century, which has contributed to the unique and rich terroir of the area. All of our vineyard work is done by hand, as we are passionate about producing grapes that are the best expressions of each varietal.

Winemaker

Winemaker Will brings passion and vision to his work crafting exceptionally delicious wines. After working with Bryan in the vineyard for a few years, Will travelled in our off season to work crushes in New Zealand (2011) and South Africa (2012) and had unique experiences learning about the winemaking process. As a result of being very hands on in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Will returned home fired up about making wine of his own on our family farm. As his career in the wine business began with farming, Will believes in being out in the vineyard as much as possible, bringing this experience and intimate knowledge of the grapes to his winemaking practice. Depending on the season, in his down time Will can either be found on the golf course or (if it is Sunday) watching countless hours of football - go Vikes! Will does not have a favourite wine because, like any good parent, he loves all of his children equally.
