The SJM team spent a couple days at Therapy Vineyards and Inn at Naramata last week. We were lucky enough to spend some time with the new owners and their new winemaker Jacq Kemp.
Their team is bringing some pretty fantastic philosophies and strategies to the Therapy experience. They are currently planting their new site with Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon as well as re-positioning some of their old vines (30 year +) around the property.
Under Jacq’s direction the entire vineyard has become free from pesticides and herbicides. There are many micro-climates within the property that enable ideal conditions for the varietals including a hot pocket for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. A big focus of the new vineyards will be to produce sparkling, with the newest section of the vineyard dedicated to Pinot Meunier.
Jacq’s low-intervention philosophies continue into the cellar, where most wines are wild-fermented and only receive a small dose of sulphur before bottling. The wines are not fined or filtered, and testing confirms they are within organic, bio-dynamic, and natural definition.
We were lucky enough to stay at the newly renovated Therapy Inn. The rooms are massive and stunning, each with sweeping views of Lake Okanagan. The 8 person hot-tub is an excellent spot to watch the sunset. We have some excellent programs in place to send our accounts up for a free stay at the Inn, speak with your SJM representative to learn more!!
